    Farmingdale High School freshman Mia Smith welcomed former Islander hockey player Steve Webb to the high school last Wednesday to sign a team jersey and hockey puck and present them to the winners of her Make “Cents” out of Breast Cancer raffle fundraiser. Weldon E. Howitt Middle School art teacher Audra Donroe was the winner of the jersey, and Weldon E. Howitt Middle School guidance counselor Pablo Lizana won the puck.     Two FHS Robotics Teams Qualify for State Tournament

    Two Farmingdale High School robotics teams qualified this past weekend for the opportunity to compete in the 2020 Southern New York State Championship Tournament! On November 16, 2019, The Long Island School for the Gifted hosted the VEX "Tower Takeover" Qualifying Tournament. Farmingdale team VEXistential Crisis finished in first place against eighteen other teams in qualifying matches and— partnered with the Harvey School—defeated all challengers to become the tournament champions!

    The Farmingdale High School Playcrafters will perform the musical Hairspray Friday, November 22 and Saturday, November 23 at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students and can be purchased at the door.

    At the end of October, 8th grade students in Ms. Caracappa’s Spanish class celebrated the Day of the Dead—a Mexican holiday set aside to honor loved ones who have passed away. Students learned about traditional foods and wrote poetry in honor of family members, famous Hispanics, and pets who have passed on.   The lesson included a trip to The Chocolate Duck, where they made traditional chocolate skulls, followed by lunch at Caracara Mexican Grill.   “This is the third year we’ve been running this trip

    Farmingdale High School Principal Dr. Samuel Thompson announced yesterday that identical twin sisters are the valedictorian and salutatorian for the Class of 2020. Gianna Morales achieved the highest cumulative GPA out of 508 students, earning herself the top spot of valedictorian.
