The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Joel Blitzer was selected as our Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce 2022 Outstanding Businessperson of the Year.
Each year the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce encourages members to select an Honoree to receive this prestigious award. The Honoree must meet the following criteria:
• Active Member of the Chamber of Commerce
• Owns or manages a business located in the community
• Has made a significant contribution to the local economy, to the advancement of the Chamber and has made a meaningful and important contribution to the general welfare of the local community.
The Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors unanimously agreed that Joel fully meets and exceeds these criteria and is proud to recognize him as our 2022 Honoree.
Joel has been working in the Insurance industry since 1989. He holds a B.S. degree in business from the C.W. Post campus of Long Island University. Upon graduating, he held the positions of underwriter for Aetna Life and Casualty, Senior Multi-National Underwriter for A.I.G. and later became an Independent Insurance Agent. Joel joined Brooks-Waterburn in 2001 as Commercial Lines Manager and became Vice President / principal in 2004. Joel is co-creator of the “Laundromat Success Program”, Brooks-Waterburn’s premier industry program for Laundromat owners nationwide. He is also the current VP and founder of a local BNI chapter. Joel is a strong believer in continuing education programs and has mastered agency management systems of which he teaches and mentors his employees to enhance the customer service experience at Brooks-Waterburn.
After moving Brooks Waterburn to Farmingdale, Joel became involved with the Farmingdale Chamber of Commerce. Joel currently serves a member of the board of directors. He is an active member of the membership committee and chairperson of the annual comedy night, under Joel’s leadership the 2021 comedy night was a smashing success allowing the chamber to expand its high school scholarship program.
In his free time, he enjoys traveling, cooking, dining out and entertaining with his wife, two children and friends. He is a former VP of the King Park Soccer Club; as a member of his community’s chamber of commerce he attends many local civic meetings to address topics within the community.

Joel will also be recognized at the NCCC’s 2022 Outstanding Businessperson of the Year Awards and Legislative Breakfast. The Breakfast is scheduled on Friday, October 28, 2022 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury from 7 am to 10 am.
