Long Island Students This Month
Adventureland’s Helping Hands Foundation is set to host their 4th annual
Tony Gentile Scholarship Reception on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 6pm. On this night, we will be awarding over $40,000 to 17 Long Island students.
- Ten Long Island High School seniors were selected to receive the Tony Gentile Memorial Scholarship. Each recipient will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship to be used towards their first semester at a Long Island college or university. Similar to the ideals of Tony Gentile, award winners were chosen based on their dedication and commitment to the Long Island community through school programs and community service.
- Five Adventureland Employees were selected to each receive a $2,500 scholarship to assist them with their college tuition. Applicants wrote an essay about how they feel the ideals and legacy of Tony Gentile are represented throughout Adventureland.
- One High School senior will be awarded the Sachem Dental Group Endowment of $2,500. This scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing a degree in the medical field. This student was chosen based on their essay detailing their commitment to the Long Island community.
- One High School senior from the William Floyd School District will be awarded a scholarship of $1,400 as a part of the Dollars for Scholars Program created with Tangier Smith Elementary School. The Helping Hands Foundation matches the funds raised by the elementary school students through this program to create a scholarship for a graduating senior. The Helping Hand Foundation accepts applications for their scholarships each spring.
